Sometimes it’s best to turn off the world and just enjoy the best players in the sport of baseball. Nothing better than Kyle Schwarber hitting three home runs last night when it really counted. I hated him when he was with the Cubs. That hasn’t changed now that he’s with the Phillies, but last night he was my hero. So was Paul Skenes. What a great pitcher he is. Go Bucs. Good thing we’re not oppressed by a negative genre for being the “Pittsburgh Pirates”.
OK, enough of today’s news, let’s get back to the basics.
I Like Natural Gas
More so, I like the trading range. It’s higher than it was last year, but that’s reality for you. Liquified Natural Gas is happening and it’s real. Europe needs our energy. Trump needs a little more energy to sell to bolster trade, and remember, it’s still summer. Can you imagine what winter will bring?
I’m back in around the $3.35 level. It’s just the “range” I’ve been following, but there’s no reason to blink. Natural gas is in demand, and it’s only going to get stronger.
Cotton Bounces Higher
I’ve been a naked put seller on this one. I don’t see any reason to change that strategy. It’s one I use when the market’s bottom.
I’m starting to watch the Sugar market as well, but so far, I’m on the sidelines. Same thing on the VIX call trade. It has not dropped to the levels I need for entry. I’ll wait.
Powell Is A Lame Duck
It’s more than likely that Jerome Powell will have a new job soon, maybe sooner than we all think. Trump is right. He’s late, he’s always late, but at least he’s hung around in running the Federal Reserve long enough to create opportunity.
I’m long, and getting longer in TLT, the 30-year bond, and TROW. It’s about time for rates to come down. Besides, short-term rates are less than 4.50%. It may take a couple of months, but again, I’m patient.
Teach your children. I’m trying, but face it, some people just don’t listen. My message goes out to most of you, but there’s a segment that does listen. You are long-term in nature. Some of you have picked up on my rare earth strategy. It’s nice to pick up a little hype on the way, but in essence, I’m looking two to three years out on this one. I hope I live long enough to see the reality that emerges in five to ten years. Time will tell, but in the interim, thanks for listening.
