Hedged Trades Are Important

Just a couple of minutes to post today, so I’ll be quick.

I love currencies. They’ve been a part of my life for more than fifty years. For quite a while, it’s been my belief that Japan needs higher rates. I covered my last short when the Yen broke through the 140 level. We’re trending back at the 146 level, so I took a small short position. It will pay off, but remember, I trade this one.

Perhaps I should thank Google or trailing stops. This one is a roller coaster. After getting out well above $130, I sat and waited for a bottom. When the stock hit the $45 level, I picked up a few shares. With today’s earnings report, I am up about 20 points. I wish I had bought more.

Try to remember when Jerry Orbach wasn’t just a New York detective. I played his part in the Fantasticks. Great role, great song, and a perfect play to be done in the round. Good memories I’ll cherish forever, the same as I trade every now and then. I’m usually long-term in nature, but once in a while I’ll look for a quick move, just like you.
