In a way, I feel sorry for the illegal immigrants. In a way, I do not. Many crossed the border on their own accord. The Biden administration essentially invited them. They undoubtedly paid for their entrance. I wonder what % of that money went to the “big guy” or his son, the “painter”.
It makes a lot of sense that the Trump administration is offering everyone $1,000 and free airfare to return home. It’s cheaper to handle their departure in this manner, and far less expensive than our tax dollars paying for them to stay. Besides that fact, they all have the right to reapply and enter the United States legally. Who knows what they were told, what they believe, and who they paid to be here, but $1,000 in their pocket is far better than becoming a target for ICE.
I Like Alligators
It was lots of fun driving on Alligator Alley between the Atlantic and Gulf of America coasts when I lived in South Florida. I never saw one alligator or snake either. It didn't take long to handle the 100 or so miles. The only drawback was the absolutely boring scenery, coupled with the fact that finding an open gasoline station was impossible.
Still, getting illegal immigrants to “go back home” is driving this equation. Those who will initially propagate the illegal immigrants in Alligator Alcatraz are not the best of the best found in the United States. They are not simply living in the United States, no, most of them are hardened criminals who probably snuck in to begin with. Most of them will try to avoid ICE versus leaving the greatest country on earth. It’s a nice place to live before being sent home permanently, or wherever it’s decided they go.
Tariffs & Taxes & Inflation, Oh My
I think I’m going to start calling Jerome Powell the “Mushroom Man”. It makes more sense today than in the past. Tariffs aren’t raising prices. Taxes are staying or heading lower, and there’s no inflation. What is Powell waiting for, or is he simply a puppet for an administration that left power months ago?
Trump is not one to fire anyone, especially someone he appointed in the past. Meltzer would have canned him years ago, but he didn’t like anyone except Volcker. I gave our current leader of the Federal Reserve the benefit of the doubt, especially when interest rates started to fall last summer. I was wrong. The move was political. The ‘Mushroom Man’ exposed himself. It’s time to minimize his power.
The Wizard of Oz was a tremendous movie, even though I was forced to watch it once a year when it was broadcast. I always held an affinity for Toto and the flying monkeys who worked for the wicked witch like slaves. It was a dream, wasn’t it? It seems little has changed in today’s world, even though they always try to change the meaning with prior and future events that provide alternative thoughts. Then again, maybe I’m just eating mushrooms with Powell and Yellin.
