Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick told it best with the song “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” when most of you weren’t born. That’s where we are at, folks. Trump is back, by popular demand, and his plate is full. He will get the job done, but the real question remains: how soon?
I’m a realist, and right now, cash is king. Over 60% of my current managed Roth IRA accounts are sitting in cash. I have a bunch of gold and silver bullion stored in bank vaults in London and a couple of turnaround positions just waiting for change.
It’s Bitcoin Time
While I’m long and strong on Boeing, Coterra, Ford, Nutrien, and Occidental, the only real impact Trump has made in my “securities” world is in Bitcoin. Sure, the world is going to buy up US gas, cars, and corn, but when that will happen, no one knows.
As Trump gained strength months ago, the only certainty I observed came in Bitcoin. It’s been a while since I looked at what was considered to be “smoke and mirrors”, but from time to time, smoke is a good thing, especially when coming out the muzzle of a loaded gun.
I can’t tell you I’m in love with Bitcoin, but Trump is, and face it, Trump rules. I spent a great deal of time deciding which asset-based equity understood how to run an asset-based company’s strength. Microstrategy (“MSTR”) emerged, and I jumped in around $130 a share. I sold some shares around the $420 level. Now I sit with what I will call a “free” position on ‘tens of thousands’ of shares. My original costs are in my pocket.
Technically, Bitcoin has been very good to me recently. The trend has been sideways. In a technical world, when securities run higher, and then trend sideways for a while, the best is yet to come. In the interim, selling covered calls and being long puts work. It has here but chances are it’s getting ready to run again. Human interest is strong.
We saw a nice run-up and even better correction. I closed out my covered calls and took profits on my long puts when the lower support levels were hit. It was an easy move as the negative elements in today’s world were talking trash. Bitcoin rose in the past and then fell, but something was lacking. It’s not lacking anymore as Bitcoin is for real. Enjoy the ride.
Remember the “Moody Blues”? I do, especially since I saw them perform live more than ten times in my life. Do I remember all of the concerts? Hell no. Do I care? I do not. They were fun to attend just like ELO and CSN were. It’s been a wonderful life and only Jimmy Stewart can attest to a better one. I’m not a risk taker. From time to time I’ll “put my foot in the water”. I’m doing that now with Bitcoin. Will I be right is the real question. It’s going to be a See Saw, but it’s one I want to ride.
