First off, folks, we are getting closer to making The Ticker a reality. It’s taken us much longer than anticipated to correlate the product and pricing. All of you who “follow” me want knowledge. Many of you want it for free. That’s primarily going to disappear shortly, but I’ll post here on Substack at no charge from time to time.
So, keep your eyes and ears open and look for these changes. Thanks to the “tens” of thousands who partake of what I post. Hopefully, it’s of benefit.
Trailing Stops Work
I’ve spoken about how “trailing stops” are consequential. I hate to give up profits. I’ll use trailing stops to preserve my gains. I’ll also use them when geopolitics takes hold in today’s market. That happened recently with Lockheed Martin (“LMT”).
I remember back when the Vietnam War was out of control. President Nixon finally saw the light and stopped the draft. In its last infamous year, my birthday was number 1. My Mom asked what I was going to do. My answer was simple. I learned to speak French and was accepted to McGill. I did not need either but I was prepared.
I’m not a big investor in the military. President Eisenhower was right. The Military Industrial Complex is real. I do watch JP Morgan, and they came out strong for LMT in the low $425 - $450 range. I bought it and then watched as they were right.
When the stock rose 25%, I started to use trailing stops to prevent losing my gains. At the same time, I noticed that while LMT would benefit if Harris won, if Trump gained power, the Military Industrial Complex would hit headwinds. Long story short, I got stopped out LMT slightly above $600 a share. Other than accumulating Boeing shares for turnaround reasons, I’m out of the military and sense it’s going to be tough times for the industry going forward.
Weekend Work
Over the past few weeks, there have been many changes in the “Roth IRA” accounts I manage. In these portfolios, I pay attention to someone you should listen to, Buffett. I like fast food too, but more so, I like the way he thinks. Check me out in the days that hit before Turkey Day. For those of you who wonder, it’s going to be a “free” article as those who pay me know where my money is. It’s worth it, so watch for The Ticker to hit the threads.
“We Didn’t Start The Fire,” but we sure as hell didn’t try to put it out. War sucks in my world. Peace is much more acceptable. It’s hard for me to believe that the Department of Defense cannot pass its audit. That’s not the way I run businesses. You don’t get a few chances to fail. At most, you get one, so what are we doing sending good money after bad? I don’t get it, folks. Let’s see if Trump and his selected supporters can make a difference. Be well and enjoy the time you have with family and friends,
