Jim Morrison said, “this is the end”. Maybe he was right. Maybe he was wrong, but so far, I haven’t seen indications that it is. I’ve been wrong before, but I don’t think so this time.
The Long Bond
Is this really a conflict? If it were, the long bond would be closer to the 125 level, not the 110 level. I’m a buyer here, but for “protective” reasons, I would be adding to other positions. Interest rates are too high for what’s happening in this country. I argued in the last few articles that it is time for Powell to go. He’s been late to the party before. I think he is late again, but Yellen’s use of short-term paper has rates in a bind. History says he’s wrong. So were most who have run the Federal Reserve. Politics has no place in this environment. Neither does the Fed.
Oil & Gas Look Good
I like to work at night. When Israel attacked Iran, I covered all of my protective “put’ hedges on Natural Gas. I went further, I sold twice as much as I had hedged. It is a simple story. I made money on the long puts and will make more on the short side, especially when I’m still long on the 2025 to 2029 October series.
If you want to hedge this situation, oil and gas are good ways to do it. I published my list of symbols for you. I didn’t do it for my health. I did it for yours. I hope you took a good, hard look at what I own. Remember, I like dividends, but I like hedges better.
I Like Dry Holes
In my world, there is nothing better than an abandoned well. Are they abandoned, or are their owners simply getting ready for round two? China is Iran’s friend. I am not, and for certain, neither is the DoD. They are not interested ij working with rare earth minerals where the source is unknown.
Yes, I’m interested in “dry holes,” especially when they are underwater, about 150 to 200 miles off the coast of Texas and Louisiana. Guess what these holes produce when the energy supply is complete? That’s right, light and heavy rare earth elements, the ones our Dod wants. You need to have the technology to search for and bring these to the surface. We have that. You need a conduit to sell what’s ‘‘refined” to the DoD. We have that too. In short, we have a project that is also a hedge. I’m consistent. Are you?
Call me Jed Clampett. There’s one big difference. I went to Texas, not California. It’s a simple decision once a team of academic experts is on board. We have that. They all have the abilities. They are distinguished among the DoD. We have the tools, and with many tract owners who operate in the Gulf of America, we have the source. It is not at all cheap, and it is going to get more expensive over time. Then again, we are just like Jed. The difference is we’re not shooting at food.
