It’s a busy day here in Central Texas, but I wanted to “emphasize” the importance of using trailing stops. Uncertainty is the watchword in today’s environment, and being on both sides of the fence is appropriate.
Remember, I’m boring, but I’m also not one to give up a profit. Crude oil and Chinese markets have been very good to me, but the investment world can change quickly. I’m an “overnight” worker, and you should also be. Security pricing changes occur around the clock. They do not just wait for the United States to open, especially for the types of instruments I work with.
What Changed
Crude oil and the Chinese market hit their heads at higher prices. It’s been a nice run, but all good things come to an end. That’s where “trailing stops” come into play. I like it when they get hit, as it makes the “get out” decision easy.
I doubled up on both, and you guessed it. The money went right back into my favorite “opportunity” fund, cash. “I’ll be back” but for now I’m happy to have taken a profit.
Back To Work
It’s a “honey-do” day for me. Between fixing things around the house and heading off to the grocery store, taking a little time for myself makes sense. I hope you can do the same. It’s important, but it’s not something enough do. Give it a try. I have a couple of people on the line to make sure I do GHL right. Lots of you want to “learn” the “right way” how to invest and trade. I hear you and look to having it all available soon.
Arnold was a good actor. He was a pretty good governor, too. I was impressionable in these years. I love the line “I’ll be back.” I’m not always right. I’m usually early, but I seldom give up the ghost. I like to revisit decisions I have made in the past. I’m much further down the “learning curve” as I’m nit starting at scratch. CRNC is an example that works in two ways. First, I know it well. Second, I’m up 50% in a short period of timme so “trailing stops” work. Good lessons and I hope you listen and learn.
