"Really" Makes A Comeback

In an earlier posted article I had some fun with a “Saturday Night Live” skit featuring Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers where “really” was their watchword. The world is more upside down today that it was a while back so “it’s coming back” in all of it’s glory. It seems to me that a warning is in order. If you are “politically unsound”, have a bit of a “contrary opinion” to today’s woke culture and all of the ridiculous events happening “around the world” then perhaps you should read something else. If not enjoy a “free” weekend of “The Ticker” and realize the best humor found in all of us is meant to be just that, humor. Ask Dave Chapelle or Ricky Gervais, they have both done comedy in a correct manner and despite confronting everyone they possibly can they do it better than anyone else I. They’re in the “game” standing tall and producing comedy features for Netflix. Maybe I’m next?

Really My Way

It’s hard to believe that it has been ten years since Amy and Seth broadcasted “Really” on SNL. I loved it then and still do. Putting a more modern bend to all that is going on in today’s world kind of brings it up to date but there is little anyone can do or say to make what they did years ago better. Nonetheless, here we go and remember, if I’m a bit insulting, hell, if I’m “really” insulting please accept my apologies in advance. I’m going to be “on edge” so let’s face it, it is going to happen.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen started a new craze in China over the summer for a magic mushroom-based dish called Jian shou qing, or “see hand blue”. She was seen eating the fungi, known for being hallucinogenic, while on a visit to Beijing in July. “I went with this large group of for an arranged dinner. There was a delicious mushroom dish. I was not aware that these mushrooms had ‘hallucinogenic’ properties. I learned that later,” Yellen said.

“Really” Janet, do you think we believe anything you say anymore? “Really” post your prediction that “inflation” was temporary even Jerome Powell doubts you and he is on the same side. “Really” if you want us to think that you don’t know what you are doing how are we to differentiate you from your boss, the “big guy”? “Really”, you brought a few of these mushroom back to the U.S., right? You gave a bunch of them recently to the Michigan consumers who voted quite positively on their last index, right, “really”.

Then there is “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington”, sorry Jimmy Stewart but points have to be made, eh? Yes, “Smith” is doing his best, trying to get this case done before the election because he and Merrick Garland have charged historically serious crimes and the American public needs a verdict before they vote, eh, “really”? “Really”, you would think that it’s absurd objectively given that Trump’s defense team must “review” over 13 million pages of documentary evidence and many thousand hours of video footage provided by your prosecutors, “really”. Come on now Mr. Smith, even members of the U.S. Congress cannot read that fast, even Nancy Pelosi. “Really”, are you and your boss partaking of a few of the mushrooms Janet snuck back to the U.S. in her luggage?

“Really” and think it through just one more step. Given the “crisis” we are having with all electric cars in the winter months up north, would you by a used car from “Merrick Garland” even if he gave it to you free with keys and a fully charged battery, “really”.

Then there is Vice President Kamala Harris who on ABC’s “The View” last week said "we should all be scared", scared as “heck” about the former President Donald Trump winning the White House in 2024. “Really” Kamala, is that what you are afraid of? I’m of the opinion there is someone you fear even more, Michelle Obama, ”really”. It’s not that she is black, it’s that your party would rather have her run for President than you, “really”. Think about it, all the Democrats would have to teach her is how to “laugh”, “really” how hard can that be? “Really”, maybe you should start to pump a little iron like Michelle or eat some mushrooms like Janet? It couldn’t hurt, could it, “really”?

Then there’s Donald Trump, “really”. SNL is used to beating him up regularly on their Saturday night opening or closing but that has all changed. “Really” they have turned their attention to the “big guy”. They had to, “really” when their “main impersonator” had a run in with the law. “Really”, Alec Baldwin has a few more “problems” ahead of him, a few more than his “sweaty balls” can handle, “really”. I’m not a true fan of any Trump by any means but in reality, I think Donald can do a few more “push-ups” than the guy currently perched in the Oval Office can, “really”.

And Joe, better watch your step. Your party is coming for you, “really”. Even all CNN and MSNBC news people, so to speak, are changing their tune. ”Really” they want you out and they want someone else in. “Really” other than taking vacations what are you doing? The whole world is laughing at your “gaffes” especially in the Middle East as your “escape from Afghanistan” left a bit to be desired, eh Joe, “really”? Do you think Xi and Putin were watching? Is that why invading Ukraine was their response? Seems to me retirement is in order, “really”. The investment world is starting to predict that Trump is going to win. “Really”, what else is there to support higher prices stock wise. “Really”, maybe that is why markets rally during election years. Say it ain’t so Joe, but that’s what everyone is seeing and some even predicting, “really”.

And Trump, “really”, would you buy a new or even a used car from this guy? He’s been charged with everything except abusing his daughter and son-in-law’s cat, “really”. Is this the best this country can do? “Really”, a President that doesn’t know who’s in the crowd or who the head of the Republican Mafia is, “really”. Whatever happened to the third party that was going to emerge and reshape America, “really”. Where’s Ron Paul when you need him? It’s a good time for “new leadership” but we’re stuck in a malaise no one can handle. “Really” but for COVID-19 the United States would be looking at a “new leadership” emerging. It’s likely someone in their fifties not their eighties would take charge in 2024 “really”. It’s time for a change but again, we’re all stuck, “really”.

Well, that was fun, eh? Every now and then I just have to let it all out but I’ll never get so far out-of-bounds that I take my eyes off of the goal. I briefly mentioned above a bit of what I have been reading and listening to on the airwaves. I’m starting to see better known analysts talking about what a Trump Presidency would bring to the economy. I still remember buying everything I could when everyone else thought the world was at its wits end when Trump beat Clinton in 2016. Remember, what went down went right back up. Is that why these markets continue higher? Just might be. Maybe that is why I’m doing little to nothing other that staying the course, watching, listening and above all thinking. I still think that AI is overvalued but who am I. Time will tell so keep that “space between your ears” open. Anything can happen and historically it always does.

It’s football time so I’m posting a bit early. Udemy is coming along well and I sense a few courses will soon be available in the online world. I am working on the “finishing” touches on webpages and more but I cannot take my eye off of the ball. You shouldn’t either. There’s lots of opinions out there in today’s world. I am just one of them. Best to keep your eyes pealed for the topics they write and post on. I do and you should too.

Take me back to when we didn’t have to worry about “mushrooms” being tainted and Timothy Leary being real. Where’s the real good old times when you need them? Pink Floyd in 1973, fifty plus years ago, released “Brain Damage / Eclipse” for our listening pleasure. It’s still a hit today, enjoy it. I never partook of the “evil” drugs but knew of many who did. I didn’t need them. My mind was active enough, matrix oriented, full of thoughts just like what I posted today. It’s a real world out there folks and one you need to be aware of. Remember the past as history has a way of predicting the future.
