Everybody was right last night as Joe Biden delivered his “State of the Union” address and Senator Katie Britt delivered the GOP rebuttal. While on point as expected, anger ruled the podium and translated into a script all of the news pundits could react to. It makes sense that this was their takeaway but honestly, it reflected the true “state” of our union, “bifurcated”.
I can understand that Biden has a mission and a plan to achieve it. The GOP does too but in reality, we are the reasons they exist, why they’re elected and what we can hope they identify and accomplish. I regret that a third party or the “powers that be” would be running different, younger candidates but who am I. I’m just a pawn in this matrix with but a single vote but there’s something I do possess, a voice. I’m going to use it as we head towards November and I trust you will use yours as well. Enough of opinions, thy’re premature at best. Let’s look at what this week brought us.
The Mad Hatter Rules
When Lewis Carroll wrote and published “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” in 1865 the last thing he expected was its effects perpetuating in today’s world. Maybe he did, I cannot speak for his original thoughts, but as I’ve aged, gracefully I might add, I’ve interpreted the role of “The Mad Hatter” in varied ways. As I shift more towards the “webinar” world as we launch our website and courses, you are going to see a little of what’s arisen in my world, absolute disbelief. Face it, the condition of the world as we know it has changed. People are far better educated than they were in the past but for some reason, the masses simply do not listen. Let’s see if they are listening now.
Did you watch the schizophrenic markets “trade” this week? I did. I did a lot of work on the upcoming website and courses as well but I could not alter my total “attention” away from the eccentric nature exemplified by an ever changing scenario. Yes, I took a lot of time getting ready for my weekend “paid” articles and without question, they’re solid. I also fought my MacBookPro and realized, it’s time for a new one; batteries do not last forever, but there’s more.
Powell was front and center this week performing his semi-annual “dog & pony” show in front of Congress. Despite every element of this week’s economic reports saying we should not lower interest rates, the “herd” talked incessantly about “June” being when the rates will start to head lower. I guess their “crystal ball” is a little clearer. From my perspective, given this is a political move more than not, I’m positioned for a decline in the overall world’s rates to the exception of their heading higher in Japan. When, I do not know, as I said the “crystal ball” is still a little cloudy to the exception that this is a political stunt. Maybe Powell and Yellen should just take on “The Mad Hatter’s” role and keep eating those mushrooms. Keep buying VIX calls as uncertainty rules. It is going to get much worse. Just watch it.
I like Powell but I like Popeye better. After all, that’s who I saw deliver the State of the Union last night. No one could have said it better than Biden did. ‘I am what I am and that’s all that I am”. That’s what I heard. How about you?
In reality, I had a slightly different interpretation of another Popeye standard quote. “That’s all I can stands, I can stands no more”. I’m interested in teaching you. This is also a great forum for me to preach from. I’ve had it. What the hell’s wrong with our country? I just heard a speech from the “last angry man” who is setting up a “battle” for the ages and “Rocky” isn’t even in the ring. Neither is “Apollo Creed” but face it I’d rather be picking between the two of them versus either Donald or Joe. They are the last “angry men”, eh?
Just like Howard Beale ranted about in Network, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore”. You should not either. None of us should. The question remains what are we going to do about it? Whatever that is, whatever you believe and whatever you stand for, speak up. It’s time to voice your opinion. I’m listening and I trust others are as well.
Alright, I’ve posted enough and it’s time to get back to work. A brief word to the wise, unless you are willing to spend countless hours perfecting your presentation don’t do it. Assuring users that if they partake of your courses, analysis, thoughts and more is easy. It’s a very good offering, fairly priced and more. Besides it gets better everyday as you, our clientele make it better with your usage, suggestions, opinions and more. See you over the weekend here on Substack and if you are a “paid” user you’re going to get the benefits of my work product. As always, thank you for your patience and support.
Both the original and the remake of “12 Angry Men” were tremendous. The budget for the original 1957 version was a paltry $337,000. It cost $1.75 million is 1997. The basis for both came from a 1954 CBS telecast. Twelve Angry Men is a play adapted from the CBS telecast by Reginald Rose. Staged in San Francisco in 1955, its official Broadway debut occurred on October 28, 2004 and only ran for 328 performances. It’s still better known from the big screen but last night at the “State of the Union” you got to see a newer version, eh? I didn’t see much difference. How about you?
