Introducing The Ticker
Hi, thank you for joining us at The Ticker and providing me a platform to “give back” to the trading community I’ve been part of for 55+ years. My dad became a broker when I was thirteen. Now it’s time for me to share my experiences with you.
I started writing The Ticker at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School in 1981. Over the years my articles have made a difference to many. Instinctive, relational, patterned learning, complemented with an ability to remember relationships is my core skill. History repeats itself, there’s much to learn from the past.
The Ticker has been established to teach you how to trade and much more; it’s also been designed to teach you how and what to learn. Long-term relationships with “Order Flow” futures platform developers, “proprietary” trading entities and many brokerage / clearing firms, we’re here to improve your futures trading experience. Me, I’m just a student of the Depression, the Federal Reserve and macroeconomic effects brought to you by the world as we know it. There’s much embedded in my head that I look forward to sharing with you. Here’s how we hope to do it.
The Ticker Tidbits & Tirades – Sometimes a tidbit, sometimes a tirade, it all depends. There’s always a topic to review and often it will be associated with a podcast or video. The tidbits relate to real world events that might affect your day-to-day trading but it’s the tirades that are special. They arise from one of my favorite movies of all time, “Network”. You remember the line, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore”. When you come across a “tirade” you’ll know what I mean. I’ve seen it all; now it’s my turn to ensure you learn what I’ve experienced over 55+ years. It’s not all pretty.
The Ticker Thoughts – When I observe something of interest in the macroeconomic or political sphere in real time that’s affecting the markets, I’ll let you know. Chances are the article might be a little bit long winded but what can I say, that’s par for the course. It often takes interrelated events to create or change a trend. In the thoughts section putting the pieces together in a logical dialogue provides insights into “what’s happening” quite often based upon what’s happened before.
The Ticker Trades – I don’t trade much. The Ticker Trades, starts for free but will soon be a “paid for” category. Here I’ll dig deeper into current macroeconomic and political environments that have been identified and observed resulting in a longer term trade or trend. Sometimes, supported by ancient and today’s technical analysis, a suggested trade will be posted. Please note, we will not be front running you on the trade. It’s yours to act upon as you see fit. We’re not going to take a position then tell you about it, that’s not our style. Far too many fraudsters act in this fashion; we don’t.
So that’s about it for now. Thanks for giving The Ticker, the opportunity to teach you how to be the best damn trader you can be.
Everyone learns at their own pace. If you pick everything up first time through, great but if not email me at dzimmer@substack.com so we can further help.
