Everyone has important people in their lives. I’m an only child of an only child. I’m spoiled without question, but well deserved. Regardless, it was my Dad who made a great difference in my life. Thanks Dad.
It’s been a decade since you last graced this earth, but I remember your smile. When it came to supporting me, for you, it was easy. You were like having a big brother, and without question, you were my best friend.
From our love of fast cars to our modeling careers to the 1977 Sugar Bowl and more, you were there. When it came to picking a career, you didn’t need to do more than let me “do my thing”. From an early age, you handled fixed income and annuities. When it came to stocks and options, you simply turned them over to me. I’m still listening.
It’s easy to remember you today. It’s Father’s Day, but for me, it’s just another day of you being in my life, helping me choose the right pathway, and being just like you. It was often that you reiterated to me, “don’t grow up”. Thanks, you win again.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad, and thanks. I miss you more each day.
I guess Def Leppard had a few good songs in the past. I look at pictures of you over time, Dad. I love what I see. I see myself. I turned out just like you wanted me to. You did it with a smile, never a harsh word. You weren’t perfect. I’m not either, but you let me know when to keep my mouth shut. You always said, “better to keep your mouth shut and let it be thought a fool than to open it and leave no doubt”. I agree.
